Recently, I was invited to teach a social media and marketing class for Aviatra Accelerators Explore program. Explore is the first phase of a three part educational program for women entrepreneurs. Launch and Grow are the other phases. Each phase addresses education, best practices and the guidance needed to support the business as it moves from the ideas stage to launch and growth. If you are in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area and looking to move your business to the next level, reach out to the Aviatra team.
My class included early-stage business owners in the final stage of their nine-week program. Most of the women were familiar with social media and used it mainly for personal reasons. My goal was to give them an overview of the most popular platforms and how to pick the best ones for their business.
Every social media platform is not created equal and one can favor your business and communication style over another.
In this class, we talked about Facebook and its ever-changing algorithm as well as upcoming changes to the Facebook timeline. We talked about Instagram and why this platform is so popular and a great way to showcase a company that relies on visuals and storytelling. LinkedIn is where most business owners have a social media presence, but they have only scratched the surface and power of a strong LinkedIn profile. We also talked about Snapchat being a sleeper platform that skews towards a younger demographic, but more and more companies have found ways to use Snapchat to show a more personal side of their business to their customers.
When it comes down to it, know where your customers hang out online and be there engaging with them.
I ended my class by sharing some low-budget and free marketing tools and tips. What I enjoyed the most about teaching this class was the participation and genuine interest in setting a firm business foundation each of the ladies had. I am looking forward to working with the next class!
Are you looking for a speaker for your next event or workshop, let’s work together! I look forward to sharing.
